Kasumi Teshigahara was the daughter of Sogetsu founder Sofu Teshigahara and later became the school’s second Iemoto. Her work combined delicacy with boldness and often moved beyond what people expected ikebana to be.

This is the magazine I talk about in the video. It brings together her arrangements, ideas, and personal story, and offers a closer look at an artist who helped shape Sogetsu, yet is still less widely known than her father Sofu or her brother Hiroshi.

Kasumi’s work is the inspiration for this module, Confusion Is Part of Learning. Her arrangements may surprise us, unsettle us, or make us question what belongs in ikebana. That moment of uncertainty is exactly where our exploration begins.
